KV KATHMANDU- A BRIEF PROFILE
Kendriya Vidyalaya, Embassy of India, Kathmandu, is one of the three Kendriya Vidyalayas aboard., the others being in Moscow and Tehran. These Vidyalayas cater to the educational need of the children of Indian personnel posted to Indian Missions and other agencies in the respective places.This is a civil sector school.Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kathmandu started functioning in 1973 under Indian Co-operation Mission (ICM). The Embassy of India, Kathmandu provided land for the school building within the Embassy premises, and the building was constructed by KVS. The ICM was closed in 1980 and the management of the Vidyalaya was taken over by the Embassy. His Excellency, the Ambassador of India to Nepal, is its patron and the Deputy Chief of Mission is the Ex-officio Chairman of the Vidyalaya Management Committee.It is a single section school with Science Stream in + 2 level.
